Integrated in our initiative "1 ride = 1 tree", Live Love Ride has again helped plant 250 trees in Sintra Sierra, alongside Portuguese ONG "Plantar 1 Árvore", on the 14th of February - a romantic way to profess our love for the planet, on Valentine's day.
The intervention is part of a recovery plan for an ecologically degraded land in Malveira da Serra, in Parque Natural Sintra Cascais (PNSC), due to the high and dense proliferation of invasive exotic species, promoted by the Civil Forestry Protection of Cascais and by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF), with the support from Associação Plantar Uma Árvore. The planting is aimed at recovering endemic vegetation and controlling invasive exotic species, to improve the environmental management of that area and whose management measures to be implemented aim to promote the regeneration of native forests and indigenous species, increase biodiversity and reduce the risk of fire.
Here's the list of trees planted earlier this week:
40 sobreiros ( cork-oaks);
40 carvalhos-cerquinhos (sedge oaks);
50 murtas (myrtles);
30 aroeiras (mastyc trees);
40 carrascos;
35 azinheiras (holm oaks);
15 lódãos
Thank you to all the volunteers that participated! And a big thank you to all the guests that joined our bike tours, helping us give back to nature - we'll keep on cherishing our ecosystem as much as we can, so we can continue to appreciate it's beautiful landscapes.
